YLCC SPORTIVE 2018 ‘IF CARLSBERG COULD DO SPORTIVES…

The Yorkshire Lasses Cycling Club Sportive was held at Carlton Lodge this weekend. With 528 ladies from all over the United Kingdom (and Ireland) taking part in a fantastic event to raise money for charity.

This year the sportive was held in aid of Women v Cancer, which is made up of 3 charities, Ovarian cancer, Breast cancer and Jo's cervical cancer trust, Carlton Lodge Bursary fund and PSPA

PSPA is the only UK charity dedicated to providing help and support for those living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Cortico Basal Degeneration. More information is  available on their website https://www.pspassociation.org.uk/. PSPA is a small charity that relies on donations.

The sportive is aimed at all ladies who are just starting out on the Sportives adventure and for ladies who are regular Sportive participants. There were three brand new routes for 2018 taking in the wonderful Yorkshire countryside.

  • 30 ml -''Ow do'' for ladies who are just starting to do sportives, flat-ish route with a couple of climbs which will take in the amazing view of the white horse.
  • 60ml - ''Enjoy Thissen'' for ladies who are ready to go that bit further with a few hills to challenge you.
  • 100ml - ''Flippin eck'' for ladies who are ready for a real challenge. Plenty of hills and some magnificent views over the Vale of York.

The event took place in fantastic weather, with volunteers, sponsors and Yorkshire Lass members all contributing to make the event as amazing as the past two years have been.

A huge thank you to everyone involved, well done, bring on next year.
