Carlton Lodge Activity Centre has launched a photo competition for young people aged 11-19 years to contribute to its ‘Year in North Yorkshire’ calendar for 2027.
Carlton Lodge is on the lookout for seasonal photos to feature in the calendar so photos must represent York or North Yorkshire and can include scenery or street photography.
Winners will receive a £10 gift voucher and a copy of the calendar.
Chief Executive David Sharp said: “Photography is such a large part of everyone’s lives now with camera phones in all of our pockets. This initiative will encourage young people to look at the natural world around us in North Yorkshire and to take images that we can use to share in our 2027 calendar and show the world our wonderful county“.
The 2027 calendar will be made available throughout North Yorkshire and beyond and proceeds will go towards North Yorkshire Youth’s work at Carlton Lodge in providing young people with day and residential activities across a range of skills and experiences.
“The judges will be looking for images that capture the young person’s skills and creativity and originality with the camera and for scenes that truly represent a range of locations throughout York and North Yorkshire.”added David Sharp.
NYY Calendar Competition Terms & Conditions
- The competition theme is “A Year in North Yorkshire”.
- The competition is open to young people aged between 11-19 (up to 25 with
additional needs)
- Your images must be of York and North Yorkshire.
- You can submit a single photograph or up to 5 photos as digital images only.
- Your images should be no larger than 5mb in file-size. If entering more than one
image, we recommend you send them individually, so that they don’t get blocked by
our mail filters.
- The competition closing date is the end of August. Any entries received after these
dates will not be considered.
- The photographer of each winning image will receive a calendar and a £10
Highstreet Voucher, there is no cash alternative.
- Images will be judged according to the following criteria:
❖ Overall impact
❖ Composition and arrangement ❖ Originality
- Photographs must NOT feature any identifiable people in any of the entries.
- NYY have the right to use the images for promotional products, on the website and
social media. We would also like to include a photograph of the winners next to their winning picture on the calendar, if possible, this is optional and will be discussed as part of notifying the winners.
