Graeme and David Sharp in Practice for their Everest Challenge

David Sharp, chief executive at Carlton Lodge Activity Centre and his cousin Graeme are to undertake a major challenge on Mount Everest this spring to raise funds for its charitable Bursary Fund and for Women Against Cancer, a subject close to the Team’s heart. The ‘everesting’ challenge, will take David and Graeme through some of the toughest parts of the mountain and they have been in training for months to prepare.

David said: “I’m very excited about the challenge as it will help raise much needed funds for the various groups we help throughout the year. Our continuing investment in developing Carlton Lodge Activity Centre to gives our young visitors an overall high-level experience as part of their activity events here. Money raised will enable more young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to have this experience.” The Centre team are all rooting for David and have started a JustGiving Fund Raiser where donations can be made at: https://bit.ly/DGUltimateEverestTrek

All of the activities at Carlton Lodge are delivered by fully qualified and experienced instructors and all staff hold the relevant National Governing Body (NGB) qualification or complete intensive in-house training for the relevant activities. All activity staff undertake basic youth work training to make sure the young people get the maximum out of their visit.

David added: “We are aware however that the cost of living is affecting families and that many people are having to make choices about their spending decisions. Even though our own costs are rising, we believe that by raising funds like this we will be able to help more families in these difficult economic times plus adding to our team’s support for the charities.”
